It’s currently week 2.7 or 2.8 of my 30 days of Yoga, and clearly my orderly plan to update weekly went off the rails somewhere. I blame end of semester procrastination, personally. The last 1.7 or 1.8 weeks of my life have gone something like this:
But,the last essays are being written as we speak. Ok, not literally. I actually have to write them myself. And I’m not speaking, I’m typing. That was a terrible sentence, and I’m going to stop now. The point is, YOGA.
I have certainly not managed everyday, but close to it! Let me remind you, as Someone on the Internet once said, “A rule sometimes broken is better than no rule at all“. I’m pretty sure that means that challenging myself to 30 days of yoga, and occasionally sitting on the couch watching bad TV instead is not all that bad.
Overall, I just feel better. My practice is improving (I can do a nice side-angle bind comfortably now!) and it feels great. Plus, I’m getting stronger, and those fancy arm balances are getting closer to reality.
I’m even gaining more motivation for non-yoga related fitness. Last weekend, I went for a run. Now understand, I don’t run. EVER. Unless I’m being chased by terrifying zombies – and even then only maybe. I’ve been led to believe they’re slow-moving, and I feel confident that I could walk faster than a zombie. Anyway, yes. The running. It felt pretty good! (once I could breathe again), and Mr Bookeater was downright thrilled I wanted to do something fitness-y that didn’t involve chanting or breathing exercises.
SO. Let’s aim for a non rambling conclusion: Yoga is awesome. I am sometimes lazy. This is ok: yoga is still a big, useful, wonderful part of my life. I’m going to carry on for my 30 days & beyond, and continue to ramble at you wonderful internet people.
